Danish soprano Susanne Bungaard graduated in singing at the Santa Cecilia Conservatorium in Rome and in Baroque singing at the Metz Conservatoire (France) obtaining the highest mentions in both institutes. Subsequently she has studied with Margaret Baker and Doris Andrews in Rome, Bill Schumann in New York and with Virginia Zeani in Florida-USA.

Her recent engagements include a concert dedicated to C. Gounod in Paris at the Biblioteque Nationale where she performed “La communion des Saintes” a rediscovered Cantata by Gounod (first performance in modern times) and Marguerite’s arias and scenes from Faust, Opera Gala with the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra (Cheque Republic) and Zerlina in Don Giovanni at the State Opera of Stara Zagora-Bulgaria in a beautiful new production of Stefano Poda in the Roman Arena. She was acclaimed by both audience and critics singing “Vespina” in “Il Matrimonio Inaspettato” by G.Paisiello, first performance in modern times at the Villa Campolieto in Ercolano-Italy and Micaela in Carmen with IKO-Toscana Opera Festival. 
Last years engagements also includes an extended recital tour through Europe with concerts in Italy, Greece, Spain, Latvia, Poland and Hungaria, concerts that were part of festivals such as “European song festival” in Warzaw and Kodaly festival in Hungaria.

In 2001 she attended the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro-Italy and participated as a special guest in a Gala in Roskilde-Denmark with singers from the Royal Danish Opera. The same year she made her debut at the Royaumont Festival in France, singing the leading part in Donizetti’s Opera “Olivo e Pasquale” under the baton of Alberto Zedda. She has sung “Colombina” in Mascagni’s Opera “Le Maschere” with the Opera of Livorno, birthtown of the composer, with this same production she also performed in the theatres of Pisa, Modena, Ravenna, Mantova and Piacenza (2001-2002) ( CD released by KICCO).  She has sung Norina in “Don Pasquale”(2002) and Adina in “Elisir d’Amore” in Trapani-Sicily
(2003). In 2002 she participated in the Opera ”Montezuma” by G.Paisiello in Mexico City, first performance in modern times, broadcasted by the National television. She was Despina in “Cosi fan Tutte” at the Globe Theatre of Rome (2004) and Nedda in “Pagliacci” in Salerno (2006) the same year she also made her debut at the Teatro Massimo in Catania in E.Humperdinck’s ‘Hansel und Gretel”.

With the Symphonic Orchestra of Bari she has performed the 4th Symphony of Mahler, Rossini’s “Stabat Mater”, Mozart Concerto-Arias and recently Beethoven’s Concerto Aria “Ah Perfido” which she also performed at the “Uto Ughi Festival per Roma” (October 2010). She has participated in the acclaimed Mozart festival in Warsaw singing the soprano part in “Requiem”.
Her special skills in Baroque repertoire has brought her to perform in such prestigious festivals as “Haendel Festspiel” in Halle-Germany where she sang “Galatea” in “Acis and Galatea” final Concert of the Festival (live Television-broadcasting). 

She also has a broad experience in Modern and Contemporary music and has performed works by P.Boulez (Le Marteau sans maitre), L.Nono (La Fabbrica illuminata), D.Guacchero (Rot), “Messe Un Jour Ordinaire” by B.Cavanna at the “Parco della Musica” in Rome to mention a few.  She has sung “Polly Peachum” in”Drei Groshen Oper” by Kurt Weill and Carmina Burana by Carl Orff in the Roman Arena in Ostia Antica in occasion of the Festival Euro-Mediteranneo.

She teaches singing at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome.

CURRICULUM

1. Soprano danese Susanne Bungaard debutta nel 2001 al festival di Royaumont-Francia come protagonista femminile nel Opera “Olivo e Pasquale” di Donizetti sotto la bacchetta di Alberto Zedda. Sempre nel 2001 debutta come “Colombina” nel opera “Le Maschere” di P. Mascagni a Livorno, regia di Lindsay Kemp e diretto da Bruno Aprea, con la stessa produzione debutta nei Teatri di Pisa, Modena, Ravenna, Mantova e Piacenza, l’edizione viene anche pubblicata come CD (Kicco).
   Da allora si é esibito in tutto il mondo in un vasto repertorio Operistica, Sinfonica e Recital .
   Si é diplomata in canto presso il Conservatorio Santa Cecilia di Roma con R.Berg e in seguito si é perfezionata con Margaret Baker-Genovesi e Doris Andrews a Roma e con Bill Schumann e Virginia Zeani in USA.

Diplomata anche in canto Barocco al Conservatoire de Metz-Francia, svolge una intensa attività concertistica anche in questo repertorio esibendosi in prestigiosi Festival specializzati come “Haendel Fest-Spiel” di Halle (Citta natale del Compositore), nei panni di“Galatea” nel “Acis and Galatea”, concerto finale del Festival trasmesso in diretta televisiva.
3. Invitata come solista presso importanti Istituzioni Musicali e Festival Internazionali come il “Mozart-Festival” di Varsavia dove ha cantato il Requiem, Kodaly Festival Ungheria (Recital), European Song festival Varsavia (Recital), Festival Uto Ughi per Roma (Arie da Concerto di Mozart e Beethoven), Festival Euro-Mediterannea (Carmina Burana-Carl Orff).
   Con l”Orchestra della Provincia di Bari è stata solista in varie occasioni, tra cui la 4º Sinfonia di Mahler e lo Stabat Mater di Rossini.
   Il suo repertorio comprende anche diverse prime esecuzioni in tempi moderni, tra le quali 2 Opere di Paisiello “Montezuma” a Citta del Messico e “Il Matrimonio inaspettato” al festival delle Ville Vesuviane di Ercolano.

   I ruoli da lei interpretati di recente comprendono anche: Zerlina nel “Don Giovanni” regia di Stefano Poda all’Arena Romana-Opera Statale di Stara Zagora-Bulgaria, Despina in “Cosi fan tutte” di Mozart al “Globe Theatre” a Roma, Adina “Elisir D’Amore” (Trapani) e Norina “Don Pasquale” di Donizetti, Micaela nella “Carmen” di Bizet con la “IKO-Toscana Opera Festival”, Nedda nei “Pagliacci” in forma di concerto a Salerno, “Hansel und Gretel”Humperdinck(Taumaenchen/Gretel) al Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania.
5. 
   Nel campo della musica contemporanea ha interpretato, tra l’altro, “Le Marteau sans Maitre” di Pierre Boulez, “La fabbrica illuminata” di Luigi Nono, “Rot” di D.Guacchero e “Messe Un jour ordinaire” di B.Cavanna all’Auditorium Parco della Musica a Roma.

   Insegna canto a i Corsi Pre-Accademici presso Conservatorio Santa Cecilia, Roma.
